2 treated at nearby hospital after 4 lose home to Kansas City house fire [Video]

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Two individuals were taken to a nearby hospital after a devastating afternoon house fire left four individuals without a home.

The Kansas City, Missouri, Fire Department says that around 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, emergency crews were called to the 1600 block of Freemont Ave., near the Blue Valley Recreation Center Park, with reports of a house fire.

When first responders arrived, they said they found smoke and flames tearing through the home and an offensive operation was started. A short while later, an evacuation order was commanded and defensive operations began.

As of 1:40 p.m., KCFD indicated that the fire was under control as crews began salvage and overhaul operations. Two individuals were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

Firefighters noted that the American Red Cross has been called to help four adults displaced by the blaze.
