BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) β Livingston and Ascension parish waterways will be closed to recreational traffic starting at midnight on June 20 due to the rising water levels from the recent tropical weather in the Gulf of Mexico.
The emergency closure in Livingston Parish was declared by Randy Delatte, Livingston Parish president and Chris Anderson, director of the Livingston Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, according to the Livingston Parish Government.
βIn collaboration with Springfield FD, LPSO, and Ascension OEP, it has been unanimously agreed to implement the closure for the safety of everyone in the community. We urge all residents to comply with this proclamation,β said the Livingston Parish Government in a Facebook post.
