Delta flight Detroit to Amsterdam diverted over spoiled food [Video]

DETROIT (WWJ) — A Delta Air Lines flight from Detroit to Amsterdam was forced to make a stop after passengers were served, and some ate, spoiled or contaminated food.

A spokesperson for the airline says Delta flight 136 was diverted to JFK airport in New York early Wednesday morning after it was discovered that a portion of the Main Cabin in-flight meal service was spoiled.

Family of some people on board told WWJ’s Jonathan Carlson that ambulances were waiting to transport passengers, when the plane landed at JFK at 4 a.m., while others were treated in the jet bridge at JFK.

They described “absolute chaos on board,” including passengers vomiting, restrooms overflowing, and people passing out.

A total of 227 passengers were on board the A330 plane, but Delta said it’s not clear exactly how many people ate the spoiled food.
