Geneseo limits sprinkler use due to dry conditions [Video]

Residents in Geneseo are asked to limit their water usage due to dry conditions and to protect the city’s water infrastructure.

Mayor Sean Johnson has proclaimed a Tier 1 Water Response, effective tomorrow, June 19. This move follows the unanimous passage of the Water Emergency Response Ordinance by the City Council on June 27, 2023.

The City Council authorized Geneseo to construct a fifth water well. The project is currently underway and is expected to be completed by November. A sixth deep well is in the city’s Capital Improvement Plan.

The biggest change in moving to Tier #1 from the city’s standard water conservation program is that lawn irrigation systems and sprinklers are only allowed two days per week.
