Tips to remember when shooting fireworks on the Fourth [Video]

NORTHPORT, Ala. (WBRC) – Before you begin firing off your fireworks on the Fourth of July, there are a few things you’ll want to think about.

First, be sure to check with your city and county about their laws because in some places, it’s illegal.

For example, in Northport, city leaders say it is illegal to shoot fireworks within the city limits, but acceptable out in the county.

Then comes the question of safety. We all know it’s hot. It’s dry. And very humid. When it comes to safety, Northport fire captain Jason Norris says it’s all in the preparations. Make sure you have plenty of water nearby, soak the area you’re going to be shooting from and above all – do not endanger yourself or your loved ones.
