A juvenile male was injured in a shooting reported in Charlottesville’s Meadows neighborhood Friday evening.
Charlottesville police say he suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is being treated at University of Virginia Medical Center.
Officers were dispatched to gunshots fired near the 2000 block of Michie Drive around 6:33 p.m. Friday. The block is home to Region Ten’s Meadowcreek Center, a community integration program that provides training, support and supervision to adults with developmental disabilities.
“Officers were able to confirm a male juvenile suffered a single gunshot wound,” police said in a statement issued later Friday night. “His injury is not life-threatening, and he has been transported to the UVA ER for treatment.”
There was a heavy police presence in the area Friday while officers worked the scene.
Police said the shooting was an isolated incident and there was no threat to the public.
